Margarita Ledo Andión, professor of audiovisual communication at the University of Santiago de Compostela, USC, and Director of the Audiovisual Studies Group also at USC, principal investigator of the projects “Cinema, Diversity and Networks” (2008-2011) and the National R&D programme INCITE “Lusophony: interactivity and Interculturality”.

Her line of work on geo-linguistics and Interculturality led her to direct several European studies such as the one that gave rise to the book, co-written with Jacques Guyot and Roland Michon, Production televisée et identité culturelle (Televisual production and identitary culture), PUR, Rennes, 2000. She is co-editor, with Professor Tapio Varis, of Galicia-Finlandia: Modos de pensar (Galicia-Finland: Modes of thinking), GCC, Santiago de Compostela, 2002.
Her studies about the politics of representation in documentary photography and cinema are reflected in works such as Cine de fotógrafos (Photographers’ cinema), Gustavo Gili, Barcelona, 2005, receiver of the award “Fundació Espais d’Art Comtemporani” (Spaces of Contemporary Art Foundation); Del CineOjo a Dogma 95, Paidós, Barcelona, 2004; Documentalismo fotográfico (Documentary photographic), Cátedra, Madrid, 1998; or in Documentalismo Fotográfico Contemporáneo: da inocencia á lucidez (Contemporary Documentary Photography: from innocence to lucidity), Xerais, Vigo, 1995.
She is part of, among others, the editorial and scientific board of Trípodos, Ramón Llull University, Catalan Journal of Communication and Cultural Studies, Rovira i Virgil University, Quaderns del CAC, Consell de l’Audiovisual de Catalunya, Infoamérica, UNESCO Chair of the University of Malaga, Discursos Fotográficos (Photographic Discourses), State University of Londrina, Brazil; and the Revista Latinoamericana de Ciencias de la Comunicación (Latino Journal of Communication Sciences), produced by ALAIC.

Margarita Ledo Andión is also the Chair of the Galician Association of researchers in communication, AGACOM, Vice president of the Spanish Association of Communication Research, AE-IC, and part of the team of directors of the Lusophone Federation of Communication Sciences, LUSOCOM, and the Ibero-American Association of Communication Sciences, ASSIBERCOM.

She is a filmmaker and writer. Some of her films are the documentary Santa Liberdade (Saint Liberty) (2004) and Liste, pronunciado Líster (Liste, pronounced Líster) (2007). She received the “National Award of Galician Culture” in the category of “audiovisual cinema 2008”. She is member of the Royal Galician Academy, RAG. Poet and storyteller, who wrote texts for the photographic series of Joan Fontcuberta “Barcelona, entre chien et loup” and published, with photographs of Anna Turbau, “Linguas Mortas. Serial radiofónico” (dead languages. Radio series), Sotelo Blanco, 1989.
