José Antonio Alcoceba-Hernando is an associate professor at the Department of Sociology IV at the Faculty of Information Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid. He has worked for this University since 2000. There he has mainly taught methodological theoretical subjects related to communication in the bachelor’s degrees in Journalism, Audiovisual Communication and Advertising: Communication theory, Sociology of communication, Sociology of information, Methods and techniques of social research, and Methods and techniques of communication research.

Since the academic year 2007/2008 José Antonio is responsible for teaching the subject of Social production of Communication, which is part of the Official Master’s degree in Social Communication of the Faculty of Information Sciences of the of the Complutense University of Madrid; where he also teaches Communication for Development and Youth’s transitions to Adulthood.

In the last ten years he has combined teaching with numerous works of technical assistance to the Youth Institute, linked to the Research Services Department; from where he has produced numerous papers and publications on youth’s socialization processes and the relationships between public communication and social representations of youth: “Manual de buenas prácticas para el tratamiento de la información sobre juventud” (Handbook of good practice for the treatment of information on youth) and “Los Servicios de Información Juvenil en España. Un acercamiento a su realidad y funcionamiento” (Youth information services in Spain. An approach to their reality and operation), among others.
