Guiomar Salvat-Martinrey holds a Ph.D. in Information Sciences and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, both from the Complutense University of Madrid. She has practiced journalism in printed media like Informaciones, La Gaceta de los Negocios, El Sol (Sun newspaper), among others.

As a teacher she has worked at the European University of Madrid for more than a decade in the Faculty of Communication, teaching various subjects related to technologies in the field of information in Journalism, Advertising, Audiovisual Communication, Fine Arts and dual degrees in Business Administration. At the European University of Madrid she was professor of the Ph.D. programme between 1999 and 2005, and was part of the Department of Publications and Scientific Exchange during a decade, where she was an editor.

She is currently a professor in the Faculty of Communication, Department of Communication I, at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, where she teaches various subjects related to new technologies: Technology of written information, Design of journalistic information, and New technologies and Information Society.

She has participated in several R&D projects and currently is part of the project Las políticas de impulso a la sociedad de la Información en España (Policies promoting the information society policies in Spain) financed by the Ministry of Education and Science, directed by Marcial Murciano Martínez.

She is the author of articles in journals such as Telos, Estudios sobre el mensaje periodístico (Studies on the journalistic message), Nómadas (Nomads), Alaic, Cuadernos de documentación multimedia (Papers on multimedia documentation), among others. She is also the author of chapters in books like Diez lecciones de periodismo especializado (Ten lessons of specialized journalism) and the author of full books including “La experiencia digital en presente continuo” (The digital experience in the present continuous).
