<meta name="DC.Description" lang="en" content=“Revista Latina de Comunicación Social, RLCS, is a scientific journal edited at the University of La Laguna, ULL (Tenerife, Canary Islands) in the Laboratory of Information Technologies and New Analysis of Communication, LATINA according to its initials in Spanish, founded in 1987 by Dr. José Manuel de-Pablos-Coello, under the protection of special doctorate programmes for Latin American professors. The journal publishes under the main summary almost exclusively research papers written following the formula IMR&DC+B: introduction, methodology, results and discussion plus conclusion, with a updated bibliography: at least 70% of the bibliographic entries must be from the past 10 years and half of them from scientific journals in Spanish and English languages. Reviewers make a double blind peer examination. This is a collective and inter-university project, including many professors and researchers from almost all Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries. The journal is the following databases: EBSCO (USA), DOAJ (Lund University, Sweden), Redalyc (Mexico), Dialnet (Spain); and is indexed by the CINDOC-CSIC in DICE, ISOC, RESH, Office of Latin American Education, OEI according to its initials in Spanish; Dulcinea, etc. In Spain the journal is a reference in the Directory of Index of Spanish Periodicals of Social and Communication Sciences, IN-RECS, of the University of Granada, UGR. RLCS occupies the first position in the cumulative index for the periods 2003-2007; 2004-2008 and the year 2008.”/>

<meta name="DC.contributor.referee I" content="This research is an in-depth analysis of the non-verbal language displayed by the Prime Minister of Spain, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, in the first quarter of 2010. To this end, the author(s) designed an appropriate methodology based on analysis cards that analyse the audiovisual content of the public interventions of the Prime Minister. The analysis focuses on a set of categories of the kinesic behaviour which include facial and body gestures. The selected sample (90 editions of a news programme) is more than enough to carry out this research, and proof of this are the very interesting results that the author drawn from the study. The starting hypothesis broken down into three sections perfectly clarifies the premises from which this research arises. These premises are sorted correctly in the objectives section. The results are presented, sorted and classified in different graphics, which provide clarity in the evolution of each of the gestures of the subject under study, and allows a comparison of great interest. Finally, the findings of the study and the bibliography are appropriate. We consider this study to be very positive, interesting, innovative and with a correct level of scientific analysis. Therefore we recommend its publication. Professor Cristina González-Oñate, Ph.D. and Professor Carlos Fanjul-Peyró, Ph.D. Universitat Jaume I, Castellón."/>

<meta name="DC.contributor.referee II" content="As the title shows, the theme of this article is interesting. The literature review is consistent and up-to-date. The results, presented in graphics and tables, will be interesting and useful for readers. It is a well-structured research article that offers an analysis tool for non-verbal communication which can be useful for other investigations of the same nature. <meta name="DC.contributor.referee III" content="This research article is recommended for publication because it brings new information and knowledge about the non-verbal language of political communication. The study addresses an original area of research which can further explored by the communication sciences. The article offers a methodology that can be applied in similar work. It presents enough empirical work to draw conclusions of interest in this line of research. The results correspond to a recent period of time so they contribute to the updating of this area of research. Professor María Victoria Carrillo-Durán, Ph.D. University of Extremadura. "/>

<meta name="DC.description.abstract" content="Abstract: Politicians, aware of the high level of persuasion and impact television has, have progressively adapted their messages to the guidelines of the audiovisual media to strongly persuade TV viewers, seen as potential voters. Nowadays, communication teams, telegenic quality and marketing from varied political parties, do not only train their politicians to deal with non-verbal communication effectively, but they also reinforce the non-verbal sphere, understanding that a really effective message is so when both dimensions stick together. The present research focuses in a thorough study of the non-verbal language displayed by the Spanish government president, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, in the first quarter of 2010 throughout which, among other, a political topic remains: the economic crisis. By means of a content analysis, and through a self-developed tool and working method, we will decipher the strategic meaning of this political leader’s kinesic behaviour in the informing pieces broadcast in the second edition of the news broadcast by Televisión Española (TVE) (Spanish public TV)."/>
