Department of Journalism and Audiovisual Communication José Vicente García-Santamaría holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a Ph.D. degree in Communication Sciences from the Rey Juan Carlos University. He is an Assistant Professor at the Carlos III University of Madrid. He has extensive professional experience as marketing and communication consultant for major Spanish and international companies. He has also worked in the communication departments of important companies (like Cajas Rurales, Argentaria and BBVA), and for different media like El Día newspaper (from Santa Cruz de Tenerife), RadioCadena Española, La Voz de Galicia newspaper, and the Iberia Press agency, as parliamentary reporter. In the academic field he has published in important journals like Telos, OBS and Área Abierta. He has also collaborated in a dozen of collective books, including: Periodismo digital en tiempos de crisis (Digital journalism in times of crisis) (2009); El productor y la producción en la industria cinematográfica (Producer and production in the film industry) (2009); Contracampo (2007); Bienvenido Mr. Marshall. 50 años después (Welcome Mr. Marshall. 50 years later) (2004); and Los nuevos cines en España (The new cinemas in Spain) (2003). José Vicente García-Santamaría has also collaborated in the writing of the volumes corresponding to the Civil War (1939), the Franco regime (1973, 1974), and Democracy (2003) of the collection of El Mundo newspaper. He is Professor of the M.A. programme in Institutional and Political Communication run by El Mundo newspaper and the Carlos III University. Moreover, he is part of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Association of Film Historians (AEHC), where he occupies the position of Secretary. |
