Maria-Dolores Fernández is associate professor at the University of Alicante. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a doctoral degree in Geography and History from the University of Alicante. Her doctoral thesis was entitled “Origins and evolution of advertising in Spain. 1880-1936”. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Philology from the same university.

Since 2000, she teaches at the University of Alicante on the subjects of Advertising Language; Production of Advertising Texts; Strategies of Advertising Communication; Analysis and expression in written communication and information; History of Advertising; and Advertising and Tourism.

She has participated, since 2003, in various research projects, and is author and co-author of various publications and papers presented in national and international congresses. From May 2007 to April 2009, she was the Secretary of the Department of Communication and Social Psychology of the University of Alicante. She is responsible for the teaching of “Advertising communication strategies”; “Advertising and Tourism”; and “Advertising Language”.

Her research focused on the tourism communication, the history of advertising, and the field of institutional communication strategies.
